Control & anger issues: Dating

Posted on: November 30, 2009

So I’ve been seeing this guy that I’m gaga over. I would text him everyday to tell him that I love him. He would usually text me back right away.

But during Thanksgiving he didn’t reply. I was dumbfounded and humiliated. “I thought he liked me,” was all that was running through my mind.

So I went to my usual silent treatment and started my usual break up routine of “I hate men” thought patterns.

Then I saw that someone had accused him of taking steroids on his facebook page. I remembered that I have a history of not protecting my friends so I stepped up and posted a comment on his behalf:

“Ahem, as a nurse, it would be apparent to me if [Harry] were to use steroids because he would have
1.gynecomastia (man-boobs),
2.distended abdomen, and
3.shrunken testicles.
Obviously, you can see he doesn’t take steroids and besides his BALLS ARE HUGE! (Wait, forget I said that last part). “

So the purpose was for defense but there was diffusing humor in order to dispel any sense of impending conflict between any parties.

It was very effective as I immediately received a positive text message from my boyfriend numerous times that day. 🙂

It just goes to show that everyday text messaging/contact is actually detrimental to the beginning stages of a relationship and whereas keeping a vigilant eye towards establishing a common bond between you and a new boyfriend can prove to be very useful, indeed.
