Malaria Meds

Posted on: August 15, 2006

We offer Mefloquine, Malarone, Doxycycline.

Mefloquine has some serious side effects. For these reasons you should not give them to patients with cardiac, psychotic, or seizure-prone. Mefloquine’s penchant for giving weird dreams and another neurological quirks deem this so. (Although it happens rarely).

Doxycycline can cause sunburn and upset stomach. It’s cheap, though.

Malarone is the drug of choice for malaria because it’s free of side effects. It’s given 2 days before the trip, during, and 7 days after.

And that’s why Malarone is the most expensive of the choices.
