Asthma Attack

Posted on: May 30, 2005

Patients having an asthma attack (wheezing, dyspnea, tripod position) should receive nebulizer treatment, which is concentrated albuterol sulfate inhalation solution .083% administered via cool steam nebulizer (a water bong) with a stream of oxygen. It should last roughly 15 min and is always followed up by a Peak flowmeter to test for recovery prior to patient’s discharge.
